Veteran Bollywood actor Om Puri passes away at 66

Veteran actor Om Puri passed away in Mumbai after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence on Friday morning. He was 66 years old.

Born on 18 October 1950, the actor was known for his stellar performances on screen, in not just Indian but also Pakistani, British, and Hollywood movies. Om Puri had been awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India.

He studied at the Film and Television Institute of India and at the National School of Drama, along with another famous actor Naseeruddin Shah. Om Puri made his debut as an actor in 1976 with the Marathi film ‘Ghashiram Kotwal’.


Condolences poured in for the actor on social media, starting from PM Modi to Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Akshay Kumar, Kabir Khan and several bollywood actors paid their respect for the demise of Om Puri.
