Women’s BBL player Deandra Dottin rushed to Hospital after a nasty on-field collision

Deandra Dottin, the West-Indies all-rounder, was rushed to Hospital after she collided with her Brisbane Heat teammate Laura Harris at the deep mid-wicket boundary during the Women’s Big Bash League game against Melbourne Stars on Tuesday (December 27).

The 25-year old suffered a concussion following the nasty collision and she was immediately taken off the field.

The incident happened in the 11th over when Meg Lanning smashed a Haidee Birkett delivery towards mid-wicket. Harris and Dottin, who were fielding near the fence, ran into each other while trying to stop the ball from going over the ropes.

Dottin seemed to have landed awkwardly on a kit bag and was taken off the field in a stretcher by the medical staff. Harris, on the other hand, was thrown into the picket fence, but she was well enough to continue playing at the ground until the end of the match, which Heat went on to win by five runs.

The accident came a day after Heat’s fast bowler Holly Ferling suffered a concussion after her head was struck hard into the turf while trying to catch the ball.
